Welcome

Almanac is writer/musician Lizzie Nunnery and writer/dramaturg Lindsay Rodden.  Since 2009 we have worked with some of the most exciting musicians, writers, actors and visual artists across Merseyside and beyond, to create music and live literature events that light up the senses. Exploring social history and storytelling traditions through live experiments, we challenge artists to blur boundaries between theatre, concert, performance poetry and visual art, making work for gig-goers and theatre-goers alike.

Almanac was founded with an emphasis on folk music in its varied forms, and our journey has led us to expand on that passion, exploring more broadly how music and literature can interact in performance, telling moving stories in innovative ways. With our 2018 play with songs, To Have To Shoot Irishmenwe built on our diverse producing experience to launch our first national tour, bringing this timely and vital story to the UK stage.

In 2019 we’re following our passion for promoting and developing female talent in the North West, by commissioning ten Liverpool writers to write responses to RISE festival. More info here.

Previous venues include Liverpool Everyman Theatre, Bluecoat Arts Centre, Liverpool’s Cornerstone Theatre, Morden Tower Newcastle, Black-E Gallery and Sefton Park Palm House.  Previous collaborating companies include Liverpool Folk and Roots Festival, The Art Organisation Ltd, Mercy, The Miniaturists, Everyword Festival and Sound City.
